This is what NEL Coils USA has to say about the NEL Coil:
“NEL-Coils are high performance search coils designed to be used with most major brand metal detectors.
There is great demand for search coils that are stable, sensitive and give more depth than stock search coils – We tested these coils and found them to be far superior to stock and other after market coils.
Some stock search coils do not work well in difficult ground conditions. They can be noisy and give false signals even at moderate sensitivity levels. With the NEL-Coils you will find that your machine is more stable and able to run at a higher sensitivity level.
NEL-Coils are manufactured like no other coils on the market today – They are perfectly balanced, tuned and made to last.
There are several sizes available to suit your hunting needs:

I have a Minelab Safari, bought second hand, which came with a NEL Sharp Shooter coil. as an extra. I was so impressed with this one I bought the Hunter coil to replace the stock coil.. It does everything they say, deep, sensitive and accurate to pin point. But the newer ones come with a problem. The lead is longer and thicker which makes it extremely hard to thread through the stem. The other problem for me,( I’m 4ft 11in) and any short person, is that you cannot get the stem to the correct length for detecting because the lead stops it collapsing enough. This, in effect, makes it much heavier to use. I bought a second stem to save the threading problem but still have the length problem and now either have to send away for shortening or suffer with aching shoulder.
So short people, think twice but don’t be put off. It is a great piece of kit.
Yeah, the NEL coils are popular right now, and for good reason–they work.
Too bad about the length issue. I’m short too, but I guess it will help build the arm muscles 🙂
Happy Hunting!
